I know it has been awhile since I have posted. Like my blog title says, I am a working mom..LOSING IT!!! It is getting to be that time of year. Baseball/Softball season will be starting soon! That weather has been getting a little warmer so we have been outside alot. Plus, I have been maintaining a decent workout schedule. And today I tried a new recipe for Sunday dinner. So, let's break some of this down:
WORKOUT: I have been averaging about 3 to four nights a week. Some weeks are better than others. My workouts have included, riding the bike about 4.5 miles which equals about 20 minutes, about 15 minutes on the treadmill and weightlifting. I do try to do the eliptical, ut you know how I feel about that thing. And then there is ZUMBA!!! Let me just say, the girl that teaches the SAturday morning class, may look all teeney tiny and sweet.....but that lady is the ZUMBA DEVIL!!! Actually, she is GREAT. But she has no mercy. You cant us that, it is Saturday morning and I'm tired bit with her!!! She makes you work and I ususally feel the urn the rest of the day!!
Today, I tried baking fish. It turned out pretty well. I made Cod and Tilapia. I did not care as much for the Tilapia, but the Cod was good. The only thing was that the Cod seemed to have a lot of water around it. Not sure why?? Oh well, it was good!! Someone also said that Hadock was also a good fish. I will have to try.
I also wanted to share a little story with you. If you are my friend on Facebook, you will notice that I talked about my "craziness" for a couple weeks. Some of you know what it was and other have awaited to find out what it was. So, it seems though I have hit the end of the road of excitement with my craziness, so I thought I would share.
About a month ago, I was at home and the phone rang. The caller ID said Burbank, CA. "BURBANK???" I thought. HMMM, better answer. THe guy on the other end asked for Shannon and I informed him that I was Shannon. He then informed me that his names was Brian and he was from THe Ellen Degeneres Show!!! Long story short, we talked about an email that I had sent to the show about a segment they showed about a former staff member of the show named David Garcia. This amazing guy shared his story about his struggle with his weight loss and how with the help of Ellen and excercise funny guy, Richard Simmons, David was able to lose a TREMENDOUS amount of weight!! This story really struck a cord with me so I sent them an email. As I spoke with Brian, he asked me questions about my struggles and how does being overweight make me feel as a wife and a mother. THe conversation was pretty deep and I was very much from the heart with my answers. I will spare you all the details as I try to keep this blog light hearted. Anways, after talking for about 20 minuted, Brian asked that I make a video and send it to the show. Well, making that was interesting. Let me just say this....it would be the ONLY time that I would agree to allow my husband to stand over top my best friend!!! The two of them worked well together and helped me make the video to send to the Ellen show, poer their request!! Unfortunalty, that is the last that I have heard from them. I know that they requested that I have tons of energy in the video, but it was hard to do. My weight has always been a struggle and talking about it is hard. BUT, since then, I feel like I am driven. I have the inspiration to do this. Remember, I said that weightloss will no longer be my struggle, but my accomplishment. I would LOVE to have been able to go to then Ellen Show. SHe is such a sweet women, and I would LOVE to have the opportunity to work out with Richard Simmons. THat man is so funny:) But, it must not be meant to be. Therefore, I have taken the bull by the horns!! I have joined the gym and I am trying to do this. It is hard, but I am trying. I have tried a million times before. Each time I think I can do it and it seems like something happens and I give up. I am working hard to make sure I am working out and making healthier choices. My biggest struggle is still, not giving up. THat is why have chosen to blog about my weightloss journey. The man that inspired me, David Garcia, on the Ellen show, is also a blogger. I follow his blog daily! So, I thought, it seems to work for him!!!
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I know the humor is lacking in this entry, but I am sure I will have some funny stories coming soon.
MAKING WEIGHTLOSS MY ACCOMPLISHMENT, NOT MY STRUGGLE!!!
